Anti-Valentines Day: COOTIES IS THE THEME
Hello Tucson Litter Burners!
We had 9 people at the February cleanup and pulled 8 well-stuffed bags of trash. It felt smoother than the previous ones — I think we’re getting into a rhythm.
The first 5 people to sign in got roses. I may be anti-Valentine’s Day, but I am absolutely not anti-love. 
Fae showed up in full Cooties-contaminated glory.
LittleBird rocked a red bodysuit and chic hat.
Ranger #9 spotted a Cooper’s Hawk circling overhead.
We blasted a Happy Breakup playlist and talked about life.
Toward the end, a few of us converged on a fallen tree that had trapped a whole clump of litter. It turned into this spontaneous teamwork moment — holding branches down, digging out buried Polar Pop cups, bottles, even a giant Coleman cooler lid. That part felt especially satisfying.
The conversations drifted everywhere. It felt easy. It felt good. I had a big dumb smile on my face the rest of the day.
These cleanups are honestly a great alternative to the bar scene. It’s not hard work unless you want it to be. You can do as much or as little as you like. The slope into the wash has gotten a little steeper from erosion, but it’s manageable — we just help each other ease the cart down so it doesn’t tip. I’ll bring a shovel next time to keep it accessible.
